Everything Replayfy AI does — answering your questions, running investigations, building a funnel or cohort on request, and generating the proactive insights on your Overview — is powered by AI credits. This page explains how that metering works so you can reason about cost with no surprises. Credits are deliberately big, round numbers rather than fractions of a cent, and every user-facing surface talks in credits. The only rate you need to remember:
≈ 100,000 credits = $1. Replayfy AI runs on leading language models, and each request is metered against this fixed rate — you’re only ever shown credits, never a raw dollar figure or token count.

What consumes credits

Credits are spent per AI request — each time a model does real work on your behalf. Every request is metered in proportion to how much work it did, so a quick lookup costs far less than a deep multi-step investigation.
Proactive insights refresh on a cadence, so they spend credits even when nobody is actively asking. On the Free plan that cadence is capped (a daily refresh) so a workspace can’t burn its whole taster allowance on background work it never looked at; paid tiers refresh more often.
Watching recordings, browsing analytics, running funnels you already built, and every other non-AI part of Replayfy cost no credits — only the AI features above draw them down.

How credits are priced

Each request is metered individually against the ≈100,000-credits-per-dollar rate, based on the actual amount the underlying model processed for that request. A short factual answer is cheap; a full investigation that reads several data sources costs more. You never have to estimate this yourself — Replayfy records the exact credit cost of every request and rolls it up for you. Under Settings → Billing, the AI credits section shows a per-surface breakdown over the last 30 days, so you can see precisely how much went to Ask versus the proactive insights versus AI-built funnels and cohorts.
If one surface is consuming more than you’d like, the breakdown makes it obvious. Proactive insights are the usual suspect on a busy workspace — you can dial the AI down or off for the workspace from the settings if you’d rather spend credits only on questions you ask directly.

Your monthly allowance

Every plan bundles a monthly credit allowance at no extra cost, sized so normal usage stays comfortably inside it. The allowance scales with your plan: The included allowance resets at the start of each calendar month (UTC) — the same reset instant as your session counter. Unused credits from the bundle don’t roll over; a fresh full allowance arrives each month.
AI credits are billed separately from your session plan. Moving up the plan ladder raises your monthly credit allowance along with your session volume and retention — see Workspaces & billing for the full comparison.

Top-ups

If a heavy month runs through the included allowance, buy more with a one-time top-up. Purchased credits behave differently from the monthly bundle in the two ways that matter: Because the monthly bundle is always spent first, a top-up is never wasted: purchased credits sit behind your allowance and are only touched once it runs out, and whatever you don’t use stays on your balance for future months.

Enter your card — Link and wallet methods work too — and confirm. There’s no redirect; credits land on your balance within a few seconds of a successful payment.
Every top-up appears as a dated receipt in the AI credits section of the Billing page, alongside your subscription invoices.

When credits run low

Replayfy AI is designed to pause rather than bill you by surprise. When a workspace has spent both its monthly allowance and any purchased credits, AI features stop until more credits are available — you’re never charged for overage you didn’t choose. Crucially, only the AI features pause. Everything else keeps running exactly as before:

Session recording and replay, product analytics, funnels and cohorts you’ve already built, crash reporting, and alerts — none of it depends on AI credits.

Pauses until refilled

New Ask answers and investigations, AI-built funnels/cohorts, and the proactive Storyline and Signals reads.
AI comes back automatically the moment credits are available again — either when your included allowance resets at the start of the next calendar month, or as soon as you buy a top-up.
Running out of AI credits never affects session capture. If your recording stops, that’s a separate, plan-level limit (the monthly session ceiling or a billing issue) — see Workspaces & billing.

Where to see usage and buy more

Your live credit picture lives on the Billing page, and the AI settings panel links straight to it so there’s a single source of truth.
The Replayfy AI tile shows credits used vs. included this cycle and how many are remaining (with purchased credits called out separately when you have any). Below it, the AI credits section breaks spending down by product surface over the last 30 days and lists a receipt for every top-up. Buy more credits lives here too.
The AI panel confirms Replayfy AI is active and managed for your workspace, and includes a View AI usage in billing link that jumps to the same credits breakdown — usage isn’t duplicated, so the numbers can never disagree.
Viewing your plan and usage is open to everyone in the workspace, but buying credits and changing your plan require Admin or Owner. Members and Viewers see the Billing page read-only.
